The set up is fairly effortless although I located the manual to be lacking in much more detail, specifically regarding a better explanation of some of the attributes.

The HD image is just Great and Stunning. I did boost the “Sharpness” from 70 to about 90, but otherwise, left it on ‘AUTO’. I believed the screen may well be a little too huge for my laptop or computer but I was totally wrong….it is just excellent! I do not have a HDMI connector for the Pc, only the RGB, but it is nonetheless just outstanding. Hook-up was a matter of just connecting the plugs.

The sound is much better than good, but not great. I like it and it does seem to have some legitimate “surround sound” high quality.

I was going to give it 4 stars because the non-HD channels are just very good, and acceptable but, the a lot more I appear at it, I comprehend it is actually fairly great. So, it warrants 5 stars.

I have observed a number of HDTVs, specifically in showrooms, and this one seems to be far better than those. It genuinely has an remarkable image with HD and I am really pleased with the obtain.

UPDATE 07/09/2011: Following tinkering with the set for a month or so, I have been in a position to boost the sound considerably…..and it was pretty good to start with. A couple of tips: Under “Menu”, then “Audio:, make positive the Clear Voice II:ON 3 is turned on. I use “MUSIC” mode also, with treble of 82 and Bass of 70. These changes give me a genuinely good sound.

With the picture, it has improved also although it was astonishing before. I went to “ADVANCED” and you can mess with the categories to fine what suits you. I would make the positive the “Dynamic Color” is on “HIGH”. Enjoy!!!

Great Television For The Funds, May 19, 2011

I need to preface my assessment by saying I did not purchase the LG 450 on-line, I bought it at a large box shop simply because they had a far better value:

I wanted an inexpensive Television for the bedroom and the LG 450 is a excellent selection, the image top quality is really excellent for it really is price. I did not need to have 120Hz so I saved by purchasing the 60Hz model. All LG TV’s have Expert ISF Settings so you can have it professionally calibrated or do it your self, it even has a built-in blue filter. The ATSC tuner is extremely potent because I get all the nearby stations OTA with an indoor antenna. This model is not world wide web enabled so you require a set top box to get Netflix, and so on. A word of caution although: when I got it residence and calibrated the picture it still did not look excellent, it takes about 12 hours of viewing for the display to “break-in”. Right after watching the Television for a couple of days now the image has improved dramatically. As with all TV’s the sound isn’t fantastic but it does have bass and treble controls. The USB port supports: JPG, MP3, MPG, WMV, MP4. The manual states other video formats are supported but they wouldn’t function on my Tv.

I and most specialists advocate these simple settings(YMMV):
1. Turn off Dynamic Contrast.
two. Turn off Automobile Power Saving.
three. Turn on Real Cinema, if your Blu-ray player supports 24p then turn that on as nicely.
four. Select Just Scan.
5. In Sound Modes pick Music or Cinema.

A pleasant surprise, Could 27, 2011

I honestly didn’t know what to anticipate. I bought this Tv on sale at Finest Purchase for 100 dollars off. I was in the market place for a new Tv, actually my initial Television obtain.

Following a week of use, I am extremely very pleased with my buy.

The picture good quality is fantastic. Every aspect of the image can be customized- how warm the image is, brightness, gamma exposure, etc. Let me say, out of the box the picture was great, this choices are far more for if you are quite specific.

The sound top quality is sufficient. Not the absolute greatest, but it is a quite solid Tv. My dad’s bravia’s sound high quality is a lot worse so I am thankful that this setup is great.

As far as attributes are concerned- it has all of the standards (sleep timer, auto-on/off, etc). It is missing picture-in-image but this appears practically irrelevant for the size of the Television. I am throughly impressed with the number of inputs and outputs on this Television. 3 HDMI ports, 2 typical RCA (red, white, yellow) inputs, and the Pc cord. The Pc cord input even has a headphone audio input! This makes using my long cord very easy and converter free of charge.

As a note, I use the Television with my PS3 and Pc, and each look and sound wonderful.

I am quite pleased with this buy and would advise it to anybody.
