If you’re buying a brand new HDTV and have a new(er) computer (with Windows 7 for instance), you’re most likely not going to have any trouble with connecting your PC to your HDTV so you can see Windows from 10 feet away.
However, there are some things you’re going to want to think about before you rush out and plop money down on a computer, television or both, hoping that they just magically work. If you’ve ever worked with home electronics before, you know this is rarely the case!
The first thing we are going to look at is the different types of connectors and methods of hooking a PC to a television to use the large screen.
- S-Video – This is found on most televisions in operation today – at least the ones from the 1990s and beyond.
- VGA – Normal (read: OLD) televisions probably won’t have this option, but most new HDTVs do. In general, quality is better than S-video.
- DVI – Ah, good old Digital Video Interface – what a wonderful looking picture you have! If you have the choice of options, this is probably going to be the way to go to get your PC screen showing on your TV.
- HDMI - Hands down the best quality, but good luck finding a computer that will accept an HDMI input. This may change (or already has changed), but in the meantime there are DVI to HDMI converters that you can purchase.
While video games and movie are generally going to look really good on a large HDTV screen, if you’re wanting to use Office and do your homework or surf the web, you may be disappointed. Still, there are options if you want to show your PC screen on a television. You just need to make sure you get a high enough resolution so that text is crisp. Remember – the larger the screen, the further away you are going to have to sit.
There are many other things to think about, but as long as you make sure you have two matching connectors on the television and computer, you’re more than halfway there. The rest is choosing a large screen television to use with the computer. If you have questions about hooking up a specific large screen television to a specific computer, leave the details below and we’ll see what we can do. Thanks!

Yep, Amiga is so much better than Windows 7. Lol good one kid.
Cuz they think they are superior to the player they pwned which probably means that the other player doesn't play as much. Being the best at a video game isn't gonna lead them anywhere anyway. I just play for the fun of to meet new people and have fun playing. But nowadays 90% of people are assholes on online gaming. Goodthing i don't spend all day playing video games cuz i don't want to end up like them and plus saying that your better at a video game isn't better than saying your better at sports or technology
